i need to make a cooling unit and i 'll use this pump 1 HP Vertical SS Goulds 1SL4E01D3GE1R Pump. do you think this oil tank could work and the pump could fit in
A: No, the pump would not fit in the tank with enough clearance below the inlet to meet the manufacturer's stated 2" for this design.

What strainer should I use for the suction side using a 13gpm pump?
A: We have no strainers that are rated for that flow which will fit this tank. Ideally for that flow a larger reservoir would be required.

Hello, I recently bought this tank and mounted it on a trailer and I was wondering if the breather cap is really weatherproof because oil is coming out of it when I pull the trailer down the road (that shouldn't happen either). Would you recommend changing the cap for something more sturdy?
A: The breather cap supplied is a vented breather cap with a mesh screen inside. It is meant to prevent particulate intrusion as the oil level fluctuation causes air to be pushed out or sucked into the tank. It will not prevent the loss of oil if the oil level is too high and movement causes that oil to slosh up into the cap. I am not aware of any sturdier cap that would breathe properly and still prevent oil loss if that is the case. One could attach a short length of pipe or hose to extend the distance from the oil to the breather cap, as long as it didn't have any bends that could trap oil and prevent proper breathing.
