PILLOW BLOCK BEARING Brand new, DURA-ROLL 200 series pillow block bearings. Cast iron construction with self-aligning ball bearing insert and grease zerk. All bearings except eccentric lock collar types include set screw on the inner race to lock shaft. Items with eccentric locking collar have set screw in the collar.
I recently purchased 4 of these pillow block bearing with the lock collar, and all of the bearings have moved from their seating within the cast iron mount while assembling the components together. How can these be reseated properly into their housing? Should that not happen? Are these possibly from a bad batch?
A: These are self-aligning bearing and can be pivoted a number of degrees off true in the housing and still operate. It is a completely normal function of the design. The can be pivoted back to true by chucking the housing into a vise and inserting a rod into the bore, then aligning it, if that makes assembly easier. In operation they will settle into alignment with the shaft they are mounted to.

What is maximum speed this can be ran at? I am looking at making a sort of spindle for a table saw setup, and need to turn it pretty fast.
A: The manufacturer's data we have shows that it has been tested to handle 420 lbs of side load at 5000 RPM.

What is the maximum speed / rpm ? Thanks Terry
A: The data we have for these bearings indicates testing with a 420 lb load at 5000 rpm with an acceptable service life. At that speed the manufacturer doesn't recommend a heavier load. We have no data for lighter loads at higher speeds.
