A: A 1 Hp electric motor turning this pump at 1725 rpm would produce a flow of 3.5 gpm at no more than 400 psi at best.

Can these pumps also be used as hydraulic motors? If yes, what is the torque output and speed limits for the motors?
A: It is not advised to use this particular series as a hydraulic motor.

would a 5hp electric motor be enough power to run this pump?
A: It would depend on what RPM the motor is and how much pressure you are looking to build. Using a 1725 RPM motor you could get 2100 PSI at 3.5 GPM, with a 3450 RPM motor the pressure is limited to 1000 PSI at 7.1 GPM. Using a smaller displacement would allow you to build higher pressures.

Regarding gear pump 9-7788-A when facing shaft as pictured in catalogue ...what side is inlet .. left or right ? Thanks
A: When looking at the pump shaft end with the belly of the pump down the inlet would be on the left side for a CW rotation pump.
