Can this be used as a single speed replacement motor for a home evaporative swamp cooler motor if a 12 volt power source is being utilized? The rpm ratings are comparable to the standard 110 volt cooler motor.
A: There should be no issues as long as the speed, rotation and power are the same as the motor it will be replacing.

How do you change the direction of rotation?
A: Reversing the polarity will reverse the rotation.

If this motor is operated at 24 V, will it spin twice as fast as the 1800 rpm ?
A: This motor is not designed to be operated on 24vdc and may not survive if attempted. Catastrophic failure in such a case is possible. We do not advise doing so.

So for this motor 56C 1800 RPM 12 Volt 1/2 HP motor. In the details portion of the product it says speed ranges 20: 1. Does that mean that this motor will spin the desired accessory 20 times faster. For ever revolution the motor makes, Is it spinning the accessory 20 times faster?
A: The 20:1 speed range at constant torque means that the motor will operate with constant torque in the range of the base speed (1800 rpm) to 1/20th of that base speed (90 rpm) without showing an appreciable temperature rise. So, if this motor were used with a 12 VDC speed controller, it would have the same torque from its full speed to approximately 90 rpm. Below that speed, the torque and thermal capability quickly degrades. It will not turn things any faster than its rated full rpm of 1800.
