11-3517: If the ground is in the metal bracket that attaches to the frame, what is the small threaded bolt for? does this bolt a secondary neg? or a 12v dc ? Is it for the ignition or starter? thank you for you help

A: Please see the wiring diagram for item 11-3277. They operate the same. The ground for the coil is through the case, and the coil is activated by applying 12 VDC positive to the small terminal.

I don't understand the phrase: "grounded through the case". Exactly WHAT is grounded through the case? since there is only one "control" terminal, do I ground it to make it operate? Or do I apply 12 volts to it to make it operate? I need one side of the coil to be connected to the large "Battery" terminal, so I can simply ground the single small terminal to make it pull in.

A: The negative/ground on the coil is attached to the case of the the solenoid and should have a good conduction path to frame. Applying positive power to the control terminal will activate the coil and allow high current passage between the large terminals. Your description of what you need indicates the wiring of item 11-3292, which connects the positive side of the coil to the hot side battery terminal and is activated by applying negative/ground to the control terminal.

How many amps will this relay handle?

A: We have no data regarding the current limitations of this relay.
