would a 3hp gas motor run this pump and at what rpm

A: A 3 Hp gas engine would run this pump, even at the (typical) small engine full speed of 3600 rpm. The maximum achievable pressure would only be approximately 2000 psi with that limited input power, though.

Can this pump handle the side load of a pulley and belt? or is it designed to be 'front drive' only?

A: This is direct drive only. No side loading of the shaft is allowed.

need a hydraulic pump and motor to run a 5-6 ft snow blower

A: Then be able to answer these questions: What horsepower is available? What is the rated horsepower draw of the snow blower? What is the required rpm of the hydraulic motor to power the blower? What is the necessary hydraulic flow and pressure of the system? Is there adequate horsepower available to power a hydraulic system that meets those requirements? Is any hydraulic motor that can satisfy the rpm requirement going to be able to produce the torque/generate adequate horsepower to operate the snow blower? If it becomes clear that it's a viable option, choose an appropriately sized pump and motor, then the rest of the hydraulic system can be considered; i.e. reservoir, filtration, valving, fittings, conductors, and the like.

Looking for a hydraulic pump for a wood splitter with a 36 inch ram.

A: This pump would NOT be a good choice. It has very low oil flow. You should use a two-stage pump as it can deliver high flow at low pressure and when pressure requirement rises for splitting it automatically shifts to a low flow high pressure stage. By balancing the flow and pressure the HP requirement is kept constant. We carry log splitter two stage pumps for a variety of engine sizes. Use the keywords of "log splitter pump" in the search box at the upper right of any page on our site.

What size hose connecter matches this pump

A: This pump has SAE 6 ports on it. This is also called O-ring boss with 9/16 -18 thread. If you were to convert it to NPT that would be a 3/8" size.

what size hydraulic motor could I use with this pump?
