Can I run this on a 8hp gas engine, 3x16 cylinders
A: At 3600 rpm and 3000 psi, this pump will consume approximately 21 HP. With only 8.5 HP, you could expect to develop about 1200 psi continuously without killing the engine.

Can these pumps be mounted horizontal and vertical as in shaft up and shaft down?
A: They can be mounted and operated in any orientation, as long as it is direct driven. These pumps do not tolerate side load.

A: It would. Any pump would work, just the speed would be different.

Do you have any operation, maintenance or troubleshooting information for this 1080 pump??
A: There are no manuals provided for these pumps. Basic hydraulic maintenance, troubleshooting and operating principles apply. Avoid cavitation and try to keep a flooded inlet. Make sure you have enough fluid for the system (approx 1 gallon for every gallon per minute pumped) and keep the fluid clean using a return filter. Turn the pump the correct rotation, (called out as you face the shaft) at or under the stated maximum. Avoid side load on the drive shaft with this series. Set the relief for the system at or below the stated maximum.

Does this pump have a bearing on the output shaft so it can be pulley driven? Can the output shaft take side loading pressure?
A: There is not a bearing on the shaft. It is designed for direct drive only. If if must be belt driven you should use a jack shaft with the pulley mounted between two bearings and the shaft directly coupled to the pump.
