Can this pump be used in any orientation? I would like to mount it on my tractor upside down from how it is pictured, with the PTO hole on the top of the pump rather than the bottom.

A: You can use this pump in any orientation provided it is a flooded inlet.

Can you buy the seals for the 7.62 cu in 16.6 GPM 540 RPM Dynamic GP-PTO-A-7-6-S Hydraulic PTO Pump

A: Yes, the seal kit is our item number 9-8902-SK.

do the pto pumps have integral relief valves?

A: They do not.

I hope to buy an eterra 5’ razor sickle bar mower, by skid steer solutions. The mower requires minimum 9 gal/min @ 2300 psi. I want to power this attachment which produces 31 hp at the pto shaft. Will this pump work for this purpose? Do you think my tractor is up to the task? Is there a better pump for this application? Thank you

A: This pump may be a bit much for your equipment to pull. If your equipment only has 31 Hp at the PTO, then there is not enough power to drive it to the bare minimum pressure the mower requires. 9-8902-5 may be a better choice. The output is well within the range the mower can require when outfitted with an appropriately sized motor, and you still have a few Hp left over for forward travel (the pump draw on 9-8902-5 is 27 Hp).

i have a 38 hp diesel tractor with a 7.9gpm pump. current pump is running the 3 point, power steering and a front end loader. the loader is very slow and was wanting to add a reservoir and external pump to run the loader only. will this pump be sufficient?

A: This pump alone at the rated flow and 2250 psi will consume 34 of your available 38 Hp. A smaller pump may be a better choice, or disappointing results may occur.

I have a PTO pump that runs 9gpm if i put this pump on which runs 16 gpm on backhoe will backhoe be more powerful or just faster

A: Provided you have the free horsepower to push the increased volume to the rated pump pressure, it would only be faster. If you don't have enough free horsepower, your overall pressure achievable would decline so the entire system would get weaker, or stall out the engine if the demand is too great.

Looking to power 2 H-series hyd motors, each 6 gpm on a corn planter. Is this a good pump for that. Kinda like to be 1800 rpm, so 440 rpm or so pto. 73hp tractor with limited hyd ability.

A: This pump would produce enough at that rpm to power two hydraulic motors with 6 gpm each.

I want to use this pump to run a motor that requires 15 gpm @ 1800 psi which will be running a snowblower, is this pump over kill, could I use a smaller displacement pump$

A: This pump would seem well suited to provide that flow and pressure at the rated input speed. The real question would be if the motor output with that input will provide the horsepower to run the snowblower. Frequently by converting PTO drive snowblowers to hydraulic drive the losses end up making the blower underperform.

your horsepower requirement for this pump is (flow x pressure) 1714= hp..wouldn't that be (16.6x2500) 1714...equals about 24.2hp ? not 38?

A: The issue is not in the math, but the divisor. Due to the various torque characteristics of drive methods, there are different divisors to plug in for the type of driver. Hydraulic: 1714; Electric Motor: 1460; Industrial Gas/Diesel engine: 1100; Commercial Gas engine: 900. Every application will have it's own characteristics that may not fit perfectly, but largely these figures prove accurate.

What is the minimum horsepower required for this pump?

A: To operate at the rated flow and pressure continuously, this pump would require no less than 38 HP.
