I have a virtually zero load and virtually zero speed application where I would like to use this coupling in 5/8" shaft size to actuate a shaft at an angle -- How much angle do you feel we can get in this assembly in view of the no-load, no-speed situation?? Shaft is used to actuate or rotate a valve whose axis is at an angle to the control shaft and I don't want the universal joint to fall apart when control shaft is rotated -- shafts on both sides of the universal will be supported and held in place by bearings so we don't expect the universal to hold everythig in alignment
A: In normal use the maximum tolerated misalignment is 1 degree or less. In a function similar to a universal joint it would be hard to say. It doesn't appear physically possible to get much more than a few degrees of deflection before the insert fouls the teeth, or the teeth fail to mesh. A small universal joint may be a better solution.

Is this designed to work connecting a 2 stage log splitter pump to a gas engine?
A: The larger versions are but this series is not. This particular series would not handle the horsepower for even the smallest two stage pump.

Will this coupler work with a hydraulic pump that has a 5/8" diameter shaft with a 5/32" wide keyway?
A: Not well,no. The smallest jaw coupling we have with the 5/32" keyway is 1-3420-G-156.
